About

Mattia Vaccari is an astrophysicist working in observational multi-wavelength galaxy formation and evolution.

In other words, he combines images from ground-based as well as satellite-borne telescopes to clarify the observed properties of galaxies and thus shed light on how they first formed and later evolved during the life of the universe.

He is currently based in Cape Town, South Africa, where he works within the University of the Western Cape‘s Astrophysics Group thanks to support by the Square Kilometre Array South Africa project, South Africa’s National Research Foundation and the European Commission.

This blog is loosely meant to cover his daily research work and whatever strikes his fancy.

His Web Shack contains some more information about himself as well as his research.
