5.2.1 Time Awarded

In the first Announce of Observing (AO) the ELAIS team applied to survey 25  $ \square^\circ$ at 6.7, 15 and 90 $ \mu$m and to similarly survey 6 small areas of special scientific interest. The depths predicted on the basis of pre-launch figures were 0.4, 0.9 and 15mJy. This program was awarded 381600s priority 1 and 392400s priority 2. This allocation was sufficient for the 15 and 90 $ \mu$m surveys of the original proposal.

The increased overheads after the proposal stage and modifications to the AOTs in the light of the in-flight characteristics of the instruments reduced the total survey area from 25 to 12  $ \square^\circ$, maintaining the 6 small areas in the program with reduced areas.

These 12  $ \square^\circ$ were divided into 28 CAM rasters and 56 PHOT "half" rasters in four distinct regions on the sky (N1, N2, N3 and S1).

At the second AO the ELAIS team applied to survey roughly half this area (16 CAM rasters or 7  $ \square^\circ$) at 6.7 $ \mu$m and to undertake an ISO photometry program on sources detected in the early parts of the program. This program was awarded 392640s at priority 2.

Towards the end of the ISO mission an additional opportunity to bid for time was extended to the PIs of survey program. At this point a further 190800s was awarded to perform a 1  $ \square^\circ$ survey at 175 $ \mu$m and for additional quality control observations.
